YachtFriends Crew Privacy Policy

At YachtFriends, we are committed to protecting your privacy and personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Below we explain how we handle your information as a crew member.

1. What data do we collect?

  • Personal details: name, contact information, date of birth, licenses/certificates, medical information, profile photos.
  • Availability: as indicated in your calendar.
  • Activity: last login and profile updates.

2. Why do we collect this data?

  • To match you with suitable job opportunities (fixed or freelance).
  • To display your profile to members, clubs, and owners searching for crew.
  • To operate the YachtFriends crew database, including allowing members, clubs, and owners to unlock certain crew profile details through a paid service (“profile unlock”).
  • To ensure the quality and accuracy of the crew list.

3. Who can access your data?

  • Your crew profile is visible only to YachtFriends members, clubs, and owners, and only if you are an active crew member.
  • Your contact details and name remain hidden until a member unlocks your profile.
  • Some profile details may only become visible to a member, club, or owner after they complete a paid profile unlock.
  • You can edit or delete your data at any time via your account.

4. How long do we keep your data?

  • Your crew profile remains visible as long as you are active (login or calendar update within 12 months).
  • If you are inactive for 12 months, you will receive a reminder to update your profile.
  • If there is no activity within 1 month after the reminder, your crew profile will be moved to an archived status:
    • Your profile will no longer be visible/searchable in the crew database for members, clubs, or owners.
    • We may retain your personal data so you can reactivate your profile later.
    • We will only keep your data for as long as necessary for these purposes and in line with GDPR storage limitation principles.
  • If your profile remains archived and inactive, we will delete or anonymize your crew profile data after 36 months.

5. Data security

  • All personal data is stored on secure servers with encryption and secure connections (https).
  • Passwords are always hashed and cannot be read by others.
  • Access to crew data is limited to authorized users.

6. Referrals

  • YachtFriends may offer referral rewards or commissions to members, partners, or crew who refer new users to the platform.
  • If you join via a referral link or code, the referrer may receive a reward or commission.

7. Your rights

  • You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time.
  • You can manage or remove your data directly through your account.

8. Consent

By registering as a crew member and accepting this privacy policy, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described above.
